Starring Devon
Rivals Series 2: Seeking Refuge from Rutshire on the North Devon Coast.
Who hasn’t been seduced by the bonk-busting dramas of Rutshire’s residents in the hit Disney+ series Rivals?
At Devon Film Office, we’re huge fans, not only for the writing, the on-point fashion and the genius nod to the 80s (and we could go on); but also because it’s a production that has leaned in to all that we know the Westcountry offers the world of film and TV.
From Bristol’s Bottle Yard studios, to the bucolic patchwork of film-friendly landscapes, lots is already known about the hero locations featured across the south west.
But did you know that Devon also plays a starring role in Episode 1 of the current series? Maybe you recognised the sweeping coastal landscape being blown around by Tony Baddingham’s menacing Corinium chopper. Or perhaps you spotted Rupert Campbell Black’s romantic bolthole that Cameron retreats to in hiding? Blackpool Mill and the stunning surrounding land owned by Hartland Abbey has proven time and again that it can reliably deliver TV and big-screen magic – and we love seeing this part of North Devon back in the spotlight.
You can catch the current run of episodes from Series 2, streaming on Disney+. And if you’re all caught up, you’re no doubt waiting for the next batch to drop later this year. Fear not, November will roll around in no time…
