Creative Dialogues: In Conversation With Don Boyd and John Yorke

 

In Exeter on Wednesday 20th May (5.30 – 7pm)?  Then you may be interested in this free event hosted by Exeter University. It’s the latest in its Creative Dialogues series – this time between TV Producer, Screenwriter and Author John Yorke and Filmmaker Don Boyd.

John Yorke was previously head of drama at BBC and then C4 and is the author of the best-selling Into the Woods: Why Stories Work and How We Tell Them (2014) and recently published the follow-up Trip to the Moon: Understanding the True Power of Story (2026). Don is a producer, director and writer who is also Honorary Professor in Film Practice at Exeter.

John will be speaking on the power of storytelling, from popular entertainment to politics and religion. He’ll be exploring how narratives are constructed and why they are so important to society. A Q&A will follow.
