The Plymouth team are dishing up a delicious showcase of Devon.
Every so often a production comes along and does the work for us.
And when it comes to showcasing Devon’s array of camera-friendly locations, Josie’s Taste of the Westcountry is doing just that – with a whole episode of presenter Josie Gibson’s tour of the region shining a beautiful spotlight on the county.
It’s hardly surprising, since the five-part series was produced by homegrown indie Rock Oyster Media, a team with a track record in producing returning food and travel formats, who are based on the sunny shores of Plymouth.
So far in the series, Josie, a Westcountry girl, has taken in Gloucestershire, Somerset and Dorset on her journey. But Sunday 17th May sees her Devon-bound, visiting the people, places and businesses that make the county what it is.
Dream gig?
It sounds like Josie’s had a great time making this one: ‘It was so special to get to explore the counties I grew up in, it’s somewhere I thought I knew but the South West is full of delicious surprises… I couldn’t be more proud to celebrate the Westcountry!’
And for the team behind the cameras, working on the doorstep has been a welcome treat. Assistant Producer Tara Stones said, ‘Having worked in the south west for a few years, it’s rare to get an opportunity to actually film at home. It was incredibly special getting to feature places we know and love, our county is bursting with amazing stories. And sampling a glass of cold Dart Valley wine on location was really the cherry on top!’

So, we know we’ll see the lush vineyards of the Dart Valley, but where else features in this episode? Keep an eye out for the colourful seaside town of Brixham and the antiques and foodie hub Ashburton. We can expect a dose of moorland beauty too, as Josie explores the myths and legends of Dartmoor.
And the cherry on this cake (because we’re not going near scones), is the food. Josie will be joined by Michelin-starred chef Paul Ainswort. [Spoiler: expect a proper taste of Devon, from Dartmoor lamb to locally caught lemon sole].
Yes please.
Enjoy watching this one – and if what you see inspires you to bring your next production to Devon, give us a call!
